Fraunhofer Spain fosters scientific exchange with the visit of international researchers from Fraunhofer IBMT

On January 26, Fraunhofer Spain Research welcomed three international researchers, interested in learning first-hand about the center’s research lines and technological capabilities. The visit reflects our commitment to the strengthening of collaboration with Fraunhofer IBMT and other academic institutions and research centers.

Tessa Korsa, Isabell Karnatz and Sam Numata visit Fraunhofer Spain

Tessa Korsa and Isabell Karnatz are advanced-stage researchers closely linked to Fraunhofer IBMT, where they carry out scientific work in the fields of biomaterials and in vitro biological models, focusing on the study of the physical and functional properties of complex biomedical systems. Meanwhile, Sam Numata, a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tokyo, brings a specialization in bioengineering from a mechanical perspective, focusing on the structural and mechanical characterization of materials applied to biomedical research.

The visit began with a welcome from Dr. Elena Martínez, Deputy Director of Fraunhofer CAT, who presented the center’s mission, main research areas, and role within the Fraunhofer network, as well as the opportunities for international scientific collaboration. The researchers also had the opportunity to tour the laboratories, where they were introduced to Fraunhofer Spain’s integration within the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), as well as the possibilities for collaboration with the research entities within the PCB ecosystem and the University of Barcelona.

Encounters like this reinforce our commitment to training young talent, knowledge transfer, and international collaboration, fostering synergies with universities and centers of excellence that drive innovation in biotechnology and health.
