The Fraunhofer Spain Research foundation is looking for a Project Manager for its Fraunhofer CAT center. He/She will be in charge , together with scientists and business developers, to oversee, manage and support projects move up in the valorization chain, helping to bring them from TRL 2-3 to TRL 5-6.
The contract will be within the framework of the Fraunhofer CAT project , whose objective is the development of new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools in the field of precision medicine . For example, the development of new technologies for i) the establishment of biomimetic organ and tissue models for in vitro testing, ii) the development of sensors and electronic devices, iii) the design and validation of therapeutic strategies for personalized medici ne, and iv) the production and validation of new biological models.
This project is funded by: Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Univer sidades, Generalitat de Catalunya and Ajuntament de Barcelona .
Main duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Fraunhofer CAT direction, the applicant will carry out the following activities:
- Project planning and coordination , defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in close coordination with scientists and business developers.
- Grant and funding management, supporting call identification and preparation of grant proposals and budgets, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements and tracking milestones, deliverables, and reporting deadlines.
- Project team coordination, actings as a bridge between researchers, business developers, technicians, and administrative staff organizing meetings, follow-ups, and task assignments.
- Managing project budget and resources, monitoring project budget and expenses in close coordination with financial officer.
- Prepare scientific, technical, and financial reports and maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Liaison with partners, collaborators, and funding bodies and coordination of consortium activities in multi-partner projects.
- Identify potential risks (technical, financial, timeline) and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical, and institutional guidelines.
- Manage data protection, IP, and research integrity aspects
Requirements for candidates:
Essential
- Advance degree (MSc or PhD) in biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences, pharmacy or a related field. Alternatively, a degree in economics, business administration or a related field with a strong understanding of biotech R&D projects.
- Minimum one year experience in research project managment, in particular regarding EU Framework Programme projects (H2020/Horizon Europe) and EU & international funding schemes.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills.
Advantageous
- Knowledge of public and private research funding systems (European and Spanish).
- Knowledge of public research Catalan system.
- Knowledge of competitive grant applications.
- Experience in the preparations and submission of competitive project.
- Previous experience working with international collaborators.
- Experience in educational projects.
