The Fraunhofer Spain Research foundation is looking for a JUNIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN to work as laboratory manager and to bring support on different projects at the Fraunhofer Center of Applied Theragnostics in Catalonia (Fraunhofer CAT).
The contract will be within the framework of the Fraunhofer-CAT project, whose objective is the development of new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools in the field of precision medicine. For example, the development of new technologies for i) the establishment of biomimetic organ and tissue models for in vitro testing, ii) the development of sensors and electronic devices, iii) the design and validation of therapeutic strategies for personalized medicine, and iv) the production and validation of new biological models.
This project is funded by: Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Univeridades, Generalitat de Catalunya and Ajuntament de Barcelona.
Main duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Fraunhofer-CAT direction, the applicant will carry out the following research activities:
- Assist in laboratory management, including logistics on storage and workspace, ensuring compliance with good laboratory practices in coordination with safety officers.
- Purchase management including stock control, documentation, relationships with suppliers and follow up until the reception and storage of materials.
- Laboratory equipment management, including assisting the installation, repairing, cleaning, calibration, location and records of the use.
- Support for the in-board training of new members, including the writing of standard protocols and the validation of the members regarding the use of materials/ equipments after training.
- Support in the creation and maintenance of data bases of equipments, reagents and protocols.
- Technical support to research in cell culture and general molecular biology techniques.
- Collaboration in knowledge retention, including reading and reviewing of specific material, learning from other positions and participation in trainings.
Requirements for candidates
Essential
- University degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Health Science, or a related field
- Excellent organizational skills for tracking resources, protocols, schedules.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of biosafety and chemical safety protocols.
- Expertise on cell culture.
- Good level of English
- Native level in Catalan and Spanish. Excellent English.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Teamwork, communication skills and proactivity.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.
Advantageous
- Prior experience in molecular biology and fluorescence microscopy.
