Introduction to the position: The Fraunhofer Spain Research foundation is looking for an IT Technician Senior Officer to lead the setup, development, and daily operation of the center’s IT infrastructure and services, providing technical support, ensuring secure and reliable systems, and collaborating closely with the coordination team.
The contract will be within the framework of the Fraunhofer-CAT project, whose objective is the development of new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools in the field of precision medicine. For example, the development of new technologies for i) the establishment of biomimetic organ and tissue models for in vitro testing, ii) the development of sensors and electronic devices, iii) the design and validation of therapeutic strategies for personalized medicine, and iv) the production and validation of new biological models.
This project is funded by: Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, Generalitat de Catalunya and Ajuntament de Barcelona.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Fraunhofer-CAT direction, the applicant will carry out the following activities:
- IT Services and Infrastructure Setup: Establish, configure, and manage core IT services (email, remote access, data access) and build the IT service infrastructure from the ground up, including file servers, synchronization servers, and database servers, ensuring reliability, continuity, and optimal user experience.
- Data Backup Implementation (Azure): Design, implement, and monitor an Azure-based backup solution for shared folders, ensuring secure storage, recoverability, and business continuity.
- SharePoint Administration and Security: Manage SharePoint data and user access, implementing security and protection policies through Microsoft Defender.
- User Onboarding and Configuration: Create and deactivate user accounts and email addresses, install equipment for new staff, and ensure full access to IT services.
- IT Equipment Logistics: Identify required IT hardware, manage inventory, and coordinate purchases to ensure necessary workspace equipments.
- Shared Printer Management: Manage and supervise the proper functioning of shared printer located in Fraunhofer Spain facilities to ensure high-quality printing services for users.
- Secure Credentials Management: Implement local software (e.g., KeepPass) to safely store and manage sensitive passwords and credentials.
- Database Server for Finance and HR: Set up a database server to support finance and human resources operations, with integration to enterprise systems such as SAP.
- User Support: Implement ticket-based support to users in the use of software required to carry out their daily tasks, ensuring a high-quality service.
- Incident Management: Monitor and resolve incidents and problems that may arise during the operation of ICT services to provide optimal service.
- External Service Provider Coordination: Serve as the primary contact with external IT service providers to ensure smooth service delivery, maintenance, and support.
- Participation in System Improvements: Contribute to the technical design of new functionalities and system improvements in collaboration with the team and researchers.
Requirements for candidates
Essential:
- Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Data Science or related fields or equivalent advanced training (Grado Superior) with relevant IT experience or a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of networks, Windows Operating System, Active Directory, DNS, firewall configuration, hyperconverged systems, Office 365, and the Microsoft Azure environment.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Defender.
- Catalan, Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
- Strong ability to resolve end-user incidents.
- Competencies: communication, team working, proactivity and reactivity, and attention to detail.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365.
Advantageous:
- nowledge or interest in web technologies and data integration environments.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence.
- Knowledge of Linux Operating System
